Happy Birthday!!!

It doesn't seem like 3 years ago that this little bundle of joy came into our lives...but it has. Josh was born 6/28/2007 in Knoxville, TN. He weighed 8 lbs 4 oz. He was a lucky little boy because he had a true knot in his cord. That means that it wasn't just kinked. He had made a loop when he was really small and swam through it creating a knot. It has the potential to end in a still birth. He came out not breathing, but was quickly revived.

He was brother #2 in our family and we were very excited to have him as an addition to our family.

He was such a BIG baby! So cute and so cuddly.
He has always been a mama's boy from the very beginning.

This was the first time I was able to hold him after he was born!

Life wouldn't be complete without this little guy. He has grown into such a great big brother, helper and lovable little kid. He is curious, mischievous and somewhat reserved at times. But mostly, he is happy just cuddling with mom and following Dad!
We love you Josh!!

Bear Lake: Spangler Family Reunion Day 2

After a fun evening of roasting hot dogs and smores, day 2 started out CHILLY! We were in a tent...and it wasn't warm:) The kids all slept through the night and I was only cold when I put my head out of the sleeping bag to breathe. Thoughts of a nice, warm hotel were running through my head!

We ate breakfast and got ready for another beach day. Everyone had joined us that was planning on arriving and we were excited to get going.

The kids had fun riding bikes and scooters around camp.

They also LOVED playing swing ball.

Caleb, Audry, Jacob, Riley, Brennon, Madison

Bella and Mom

The kids were spoiled. I don't think Bella had an empty hand all day. Cookies, licorice, chips...no wonder she was a peach!

Mud puddle madness

I love boating. Wake boarding has to be one of my favorite things to do. Carson's boat is beautiful and we had a lot of fun watching Julie and me put our wet suits on...picture coming soon:)

Steve is the most recent addition to the family...He was married to Kori just last week. He was not afraid to get down with the kids and play.

Amber had went to take Aiden to the bathroom and Livy was NOT happy. In this picture Wayne is giving her "the talk".

More cookies...dipped in mud.

Are we tan yet?

Catching up on lost sleep

Lydia is the youngest Spangler of the bunch.

We were LUCKY enough to spend our Anniversary with most of our family...LOL!
Here is to 12 BIG years! Can't believe it has been that long.

After spending the day at the lake we managed to get all of the kids to take a nap (wasn't hard...they passed out) and we got one as well. After, we got Raspberry Shakes and then the kids helped Dad build a fire. Bella was OBSESSED with the axe. August had to hide it because she would scream if he took it away. We had a great meal with Carson and Mandy and spent the last evening by the fire again.
Grandma and Grandpa were not able to come because they are serving and LDS mission at Liberty Jail. We missed them VERY much! We hope next year we will be able to be all together!

Bear Lake: Spangler Family Reunion Day 1

Every year the Spangler Family has a reunion where Mom and Dad Spangler, all the kids and all of grand kids get together. Other years we have gone to Starvation Reservoir, Grandma and Grandpa's Backyard, Cherry Hill, day activities and other exciting places. This year Wayne and Vanee were in charge of planning and decided to go to Bear Lake.

We were very excited to go to a place that we have never been. We were a little nervous because it is in Northern Utah and it we have had a very late winter. But, I can say that it was one of the best reunions I have been to....

The kids and I headed up Friday morning without August (new job=need to impress=no time off). He arrived later that night. With a little help...ok...a LOT of help...(thank you Wayne and Steve)...I managed to get us all there safe, put the tent up and set up camp without any meltdowns or problems. We stayed at Rendezvous Beach at the South end of Bear Lake. The drive was really good. Caleb even told me to turn off the movie so we could enjoy the beautiful valley:) He is so stinkin cute!

After we set-up camp and it warmed up (59 degrees at noon) we headed down to the beach. If someone told me that I would be sitting in 6 inches of mud...and loving it...I would of never believed them. But seriously...the kids had more fun then I can remember. I brought sand toys and the cousins spent the next two days digging and making a mess.

Jordan didn't want to put his swimming suit on...by the end of the day his pants were a solid sheet of mud!

Bella was a serious crack up. She just joined right in with the big kids. I sat on the beach, relaxed and chatted while they all played for hours. Bella loved the water and the mud. The beach had about 100 feet of shallow, warm (yucky looking) water. Normally, this would be bad. But, it ended up being fabulous. The kids could play in it without freezing and without any risk of the deep water.

The older cousins took the little kids for rides on the wave runners. Caleb is an adrenaline junky. He loved every minute of it. Josh loved it too.

Aiden was really sick most of the time. He had fevers and chills really bad. Olivia hated the dirt and the mud. She sat on the chairs cleaning her feet and her shoes! It was a crack up.

If messes equal fun, the this vacation was NIRVANA!

Santaquin Canyon: June 5th

We headed up to Santaquin Canyon for dinner and marshmallows earlier this month. The top gate wasn't open yet, but we found a spot and had a good time. My dad, Brother Tyler and Sis-in-law Kelsey came up with their little boy Danner. It was a beautiful evening...but then anything would be better then rain and snow at this point.

This picture sucks...but I am posting it in hopes that Santa Claus realizes how bad I need a new camera. Needs vs. Wants...ugh!

Who needs a special event to wear pearls? Not Bella...digging in the dirt is an event enough.

Silly boys!

Wear does time go? I am having a moment looking at my cute kids...they are so big!

Moon Rocks

A few weeks back we did a moon/hot rocks craft. It turned out to be REALLY fun. We searched the neighborhood for flat, smooth rocks, baked them at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes and then decorated them with peeled crayons. The boys had a lot of fun and we didn't get burned at all.

I now have rocks decorating the house. Bella loves to steal them from the boy's rooms and it drives them crazy! Cute fun craft!
FYI: the flatter and smoother the better...the bumpy, coarse rocks didn't accept the color as easily. Also, keep the other rocks not being colored in the oven until they are ready to be colored. It doesn't work well when they cool down.
PS: Bella was NOT involved in this craft (could you imagine:), nor do I recommend it for kids who can't follow directions. Josh did great at not touching the rocks and only painting.

Hill AFB

Mandy and I headed up to Layton to Hill AFB on June 2nd with all of the little kids in tow. The plan was to meet Julie...but chickenpox destroyed our plan and we ended up going alone.

Joshie, Joshie...

Bella, Caleb, Josh, Britney, Brady and Friend

Mandy and Kids

They had a lot of fun seeing the airplanes and running around outside.

Caught ya!

Bella has begun insisting that she sit at the table, bar or any other place but her high chair to eat. On this day (June 11th), I grabbed the camera so that I could take a picture of her sitting next to Josh on the stool (her first meal at the bar...without a fall:). In the process, I caught her trying to steal Josh's food...let's just say Josh was NOT happy!

I'm a big kid now...

In an effort to get "service" in our vocabulary, we have been doing simple/small service projects. This week the kids and I mowed Grandma and Grandpa Spangler's backyard (They are on a mission in MO). This spread service all around...Spangler's (obviously) and August. August's plan was to go down to Payson after work and do the yard work...but we surprised him and did it all by ourselves (part of my new DIY approach).

As I was mowing the lawn I was so thankful that they had a self-propelled lawn mower and that I have a flat yard. Their yard has a lot of hills/slopes/obstacles. I have a push mower at home and I don't think I would have been able to do it with my lawn mower.

As I was mowing I had the bright idea that maybe Caleb could join in on the fun (easy lawn mower and all). He ended up doing the side yard and I had a few laughs at his expense. He did a great job...and in the end all of the grass ended up getting cut...although not in a usual pattern!

May 31st

For Memorial Day we went hiking with the Younger's and Grandpa Mike (my Dad) up to Battle Creek Falls. It is a fairly simple hike above Pleasant Grove HS. The plan was to see how the little boys...AKA Josh and Benni...would do hiking by themselves. Because let's face it, they are TOO big to carry.

Caleb (5), August, Bella (1), Danielle, Josh (2), Mike

The hike is 1.2 miles round trip...as my boy's would say...easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy!

Abbi, Benni, Joshua, Caleb

All of the kids did great. The babies loved the back pack and made no fuss the entire time. Josh and Benni walked the entire time with very little moaning and groaning.

Abbi and Caleb did great. Big kids rock! It is so fun to see things from their eyes. They were just so excited to be out and doing something!

To get to this point, we had to walk across the river on rocks and then climb this steep hill...Abbi was so determined and was soo proud that she made it...wet shoes and all:)

Maddi was all tuckered out and fell fast asleep on the way down. Sweet as can be!
